9 Months Old!

Pearl is nine months old!
Pearl had her first experience with swimming this month.  She absolutely loved it.  I hate to swim, but after seeing how happy she was, I know we need to get her into a pool more regularly.  She has also started playing with toys and splashing during bath times.  Before this month, baths were all business to her.  She was happy, but never tried playing in the water.  Now she goes crazy.
She is capable of standing on her own for very short lengths of time, but I think it makes her nervous.  If she is able to touch something while standing, she seems to feel much more comfortable.  She seems really solid on her feet though.  I can even get her to walk along with me now by just holding one of her hands instead of both.  I wonder how long it will be before she can walk on her own.
The first word she can say that she seems to understand the meaning of is "hi."  She says it to people while waving with a big smile on her face.  Sometimes it sounds like hi, but usually it sounds more like "haaaaaaaa."  It's really adorable.
I'm trying to teach her the sign for "more" while she eats, but she doesn't seem so interested in picking it up.  I can easily tell when Pearl is enjoying a food and wants more of it though so I guess it doesn't really matter.  She makes little "mmmmm" noises while she eats and does this quick, loud yell when she really loves something and wants more immediately.
We have stopped doing a strict food introduction schedule and basically just give her anything that is soft enough for her to chew now.  I still make purees, but she eats a lot of the foods that we eat as well.  I'm not going to list the foods we introduced this month because there are just too many and to be honest, I won't remember half of them.
Pearl now has both of her bottom front teeth in.  The second tooth came in this month and it was a breeze.  Really no fussing at all!
Our girl has thinned out a lot since she became mobile.  At 6 months she was right at 17 pounds and now she weighs 18 pounds 3 ounces.  I was a little nervous when I saw she had only gained just over a pound in three months, but her doctor assured me that it's normal weight gain for a baby as mobile as she is.  Pearl is no longer a chunk.  In fact she is almost exactly at the 50% mark for both height and weight.  Her head is still in the 97% though :)
See how much she has grown!

  6. I was going to say that she is looking so much more long and lean! Crazy how fast they can change! Holden is now more of a chunk than her I do believe! I think he has a few pounds on her...not surprising since he is not nearly as mobile! Love that she waves and says HI! Awesome!
