Portlander Problems #24 - Mom Edition

The problems today were submitted by my lovely friend Lauren and are specific to being a PDX mom.

Portland Mom Problems:

1. Feeling the judgement of other moms when I forget to bring homemade baby food out in public and have to give my baby the pre-made organic version instead.
2. Stressing out about the BPA that might be lurking in every baby item I own.
3. Feeling guilty about the lack of organic cotton in my baby's wardrobe.
4. The fact that I should have my own Whole Foods expense account for all of the random all-natural and homeopathic baby items I have to buy there (sunblock, teething gel, etc).

Check out Lauren's blogs here:

If you live in the Portland area and want to share some of your own, I would love if you would submit your Portlander Problems to me.
I will post yours one of these coming weeks.  E-mail me at kiralynnpdx@gmail.com.

  1. I don't live in Portland, as you know. But I identify with (or have identified with in the past) with everything on the list! It's the plight of the modern mom, I believe. :)

  2. Well, I don't have a baby, but this seems like something that many moms would face!

    1. Totally agree that these are normal things moms should consider! But around here, you really feel judged by other moms if you don't go the homemade/natural/organic route with everything.

  3. I am from the Midwest originally... And, things might have changed there. But, many of my mommy friends there don't get the guilt inducing stares for pulling out a bottle instead of a breast or worry about homemade/organic in public. Nor do they have to avoid hot topics such as "circumcisions" or "vaccinations" in fear of being judged. Things may have changed there, but I do often worry about all of those things and more here. Maybe it is a modern mommy problem... But, man oh man, it is a problem.

I love to hear from you, and will do my best to respond to your comment! Please no spam :)
