A lot of you already know this through Instagram, but Pearl fell down a set of stairs at a relative's house last Friday. We rushed her to the ER when we noticed that she wouldn't bare weight on her left leg. The x-ray showed no signs of fracture so we were sent home and told to go to her pediatrician if she still couldn't walk by Monday.
She had made no progress by then so we made an appointment with the pediatrician. She sent us to a fracture clinic and we got another x-ray today. It turns out that Pearl has a pretty common small fracture that is even named a 'toddler's fracture'.
She was put in a cast covering her entire leg that will stay on for 3-4 weeks. Pearl took the entire process like a champ. She seemed more interested than upset while getting the cast on and hasn't fussed too much about it today. She has already figured out how to crawl in it, but probably won't be walking for a few weeks.
I'm sad that she has to be in a cast for this long, but we are glad to know what the problem is and that it is a relatively simple fix. She will hopefully be back to running around the house around Christmas.
