I took an unintentional break from these for a bit, but they're back!
On to the problems...
1. Pearl and I were standing in the ACE Hotel lobby downtown waiting for a friend. The place was packed with Portland hipsters who all happened to be male. There wasn't a single available seat and not one of them offered theirs to us. Apparently Portland hipsters are too progressive to offer a pregnant woman and toddler a seat. They probably thought they were doing the right thing because, you know...feminism.
2. Driving all the way out to the Pendleton Woolen Mill store in Sellwood only to find that all of the good sized fabric scraps had been picked through over the weekend. You have no idea how disappointing that was.
3. As my compost bucket was being cleaned due to a funky smell; I threw two banana peels, an apple core, and numerous paper towels into the garbage. I felt terrible about it and considered pulling them out later.

Oh portland hipsters! But so true!
ReplyDeleteAaahahaha, I love these. Never been pregnant but I can see how that could happen in Portland!! As for the other two... BEEN THERE!!!! ;)
ReplyDeleteOh man I hate that when it happens at the Woolen Mill. I always check the truck date on their blog to make sure i am there before a weekend!
ReplyDeleteSo I just moved to the Portland area over the summer from Oklahoma. I just sat and read through your whole history of Portlander Problems! So funny and so true, especially to someone who is still adjusting to this new environment. I'll have to email you some of my problems as a newbie Portlander!
ReplyDeleteThat would be great Lindsay!
DeleteTalk about rude, My friend couldn't get a seat on the bus when she was 9 months pregnant. Technically wouldn't it be more "hipster" to give up your seat since the norm isn't, Lets hope that catches on instead ;)
ReplyDeleteHaha. I love these! Unfortunately, I think men not offering a seat tends to be more than just a hipster problem...
ReplyDeleteLOL these are great! Especially since I was catching up on Portlandia last night on Netflix. Oh the hipsters!
ReplyDeleteI actually overheard a hipster conversation the other day about how chivalry is not only dead, but it should be because women are perfectly capable of opening their own doors and it's offensive to think otherwise. I do not agree with this.... :)
ReplyDeleteNo one let you have their seat?????! How horrible!!!

ugh. that irks me about hipster chivalry being dead! c'mon men! put down your Stumptown and offer the lady your seat! grrrrrr. xoxo
ReplyDeleteughhhh, I can't tell you how many times I've watched elderly people have to walk to the back of the bus while the hipsters sit in the front section and don't even glance up at the people going by. Seriously. Man up and move your butt. ha.
