I finally became THAT mom. You know...the mom who walks her kid around on a leash. I remember seeing toddlers on leashes when I was younger and I thought it was so silly. "They aren't a dog," I would say to myself, "I would never do that." Well, back then I didn't know I would one day have a very independent child who loves to walk and run around. I was apparently pretty judgmental of parents when I had no idea what it was like to be one. Now that I have a toddler, I decided that the leash backpack was the best way to keep her happy and safe while out and about.
We got it in the mail yesterday. I put the backpack portion on Pearl so she could get used to it while just playing around the house. She decided that since she basically had a pillow on her back, it was time to have some fun. I hope the falling over gets old for her so we can actually walk with it on, but watching her yesterday was pretty hilarious.

She is so funny! (and so adventurous!) I know what you mean about not understanding other parents before I had a toddler of my own, wow that changes everything, doesn't it?! I've had to eat my share of humble pie.. :P
ReplyDeleteSo funny!!! I've thought about getting one, too. I'm a little afraid he will jerk against it/I will yank him back! Haha. But we may get one. Luckily so far he is still pretty good about staying in the stroller when we are out places. And yes... parenthood has forced me to eat several different slices of humble pie.

ReplyDeleteI used to think the backpacks were so silly. I mean who cann;t keep track of their kiddo? Then I met my bestie's kid. MUTS HAVE BACKPACK. I am lucky that so far mine is a lot less busy.

I am glad you posted this video because it makes me feel like I know her better : ) And that one back-arching/screaming fall was hilarious! HAHAHA! Oh, and I am totally NOT against leashes... I was on one as a kid and I think they are a great option to have for an independent child on the go! Strangers are probably more annoyed when random babies are just running the heck around without a parent in sight, so own the leash girl!
