Portland Bloggers Event

I attended the Portland Bloggers Strike a Pose Event on Sunday.  My friend Jenni and a group of awesome local ladies put together workshops and networking events for bloggers on a bi-monthly basis.  I have only managed to attend a couple of them and decided that I really should suck it up and go this time.  I'm a little uncomfortable in social situations so I often make excuses not to go.  I really enjoy all of their events that I have attended though and end up learning a lot.  It's also fun to meet the local ladies whose blogs I read on a regular basis (even if I am awkward).
This workshop was great.  There were a handful of impressive photographers there who taught us different tricks on how to improve our blog photography.  I was in Ali Murray's group and I learned a lot from her about portrait photography in a really short period of time.
After our group sessions, our photographers went out and took a few photos of each of us.  They had a great hair and make-up stylist on hand to help people with touch-ups and also had pretty local jewelry that ladies could wear in their photos.  As a pregnant mother who works mostly from home, I don't usually get all fancy so it was fun to have Marina tease up my hair and help me out with some bold red lipstick.
In my usual lazy fashion, I didn't take any photos at the event, but other people did and I managed to snag a few.

A sneak peak photo taken by Ali of Murray Photography.  I can't wait to see the rest!

  4. I'm so glad you came. I'm totally a weirdo in social situations. I either shut down or yell at people. But, I too love these things and I couldn't tell at all if you were feeling uncomfy!

  7. I am totally the same way when it comes to such "social situations." I end up having a good time but I never want to go. I have a really hard time striking up conversation and thinking of things to say! Stresses me out! I'm glad you went and had a good time- and you have great photos to show for it! :)
