The Toddler Bed - An Unplanned Success

welcoming me and the dogs into her room this morning
Pearl had a rough couple of nights recently.  It's funny how some teeth come in with no problem and others bother her so badly.  This tooth is apparently torture.
When she woke up screaming two nights ago, I brought her into our room and tried to get her to sleep in our bed.  She flailed around and would occasionally wake up to cry.  Jeremy and I both didn't get any sleep after about 2:30 am.
Pearl woke up at midnight last night.  I knew our bed wasn't going to work out again so I tried calming her down and putting her back into the crib.  She went completely nuts.  I decided to try the floor bed.  We started using it at nap time a couple of weeks ago, but I have been too nervous to try it at night.  She generally sleeps so well in the crib and I didn't want to mess with that.  Nothing seemed to work out last night though so I figured I may as well give it a shot.
I laid on the floor and cuddled with her until she calmed down and fell asleep.  She kept reaching for my face to make sure I was still there so I didn't think it would go over well if she woke after I left.  She slept there until 8:00 am though without a peep.  I hope it's a positive sign for the night time transition, but even if it isn't, at least we all got some sleep last night.

  1. That is awesome! I hope the tooth comes through soon!

Our little guy likes his floor bed for the most part. Actually, it has been the best for my husband since he can actually lay down and calm him instead of in his little toddler bed (which was his crib). I often find them on the bed asleep together.

  4. Oh no, I hope Pearl feels better soon! That's so exciting, though, that it's helping the transition. :-)

  6. Way to go Pearl (and mama too)!! That's a big transition! Took Blake probably over a month before he wouldn't get out of bed at night. Hope she kept it up for you!
