Toddler Style #6 - Outside Play

Shirt: Vintage (once belonged to her aunt Carolyn), Overalls: OshKosh hand-me-downs, Leggings: Old Navy, Shoes: Target
There have been a few nice days mixed in with the rainy ones lately here in Portland.  Sometimes it's hard for me to get Pearl outside to play even when the weather is nice.  She seems to get into everything in the backyard that I don't want her to touch.  She definitely loves to explore the outdoors though and we have a large yard for her to play in.  Although it freaks me out that she is going to touch dog poop or a number of other gross things, I'm glad she has that space.  I'm trying to get better about taking her out there.  She had fun picking up rocks and playing with sticks this morning and thankfully didn't find anything too disgusting to touch.  If you have tips about toddler proofing a backyard, I would love to hear them.

  1. Our problem with outside play is that all H wants to do is RUN!!! And of course he would love to run right down our sloped yard into the street, etc. He doesn't appreciate being re-routed. Ha. We have a fenced in back yard which we need to take full advantage of- right now it's main use is Doug's potty grounds which is a little unfortunate. Not really sure what to do about it since I don't really favor the idea of poop scooping all the time! Oh dogs...

  4. We need to toddler proof our backyard this summer too! Thankfully, we have a huge park/playground nearby that we can walk to, with plenty of running room! They sure are active little people:-) xoxo
