This year was the first that we have devoted our morning to being at home with the kids opening stockings and presents. I'm so glad we did it and will definitely make sure that being at home in the morning is a regular part of our holiday tradition.
We didn't have a ton of gifts and didn't really spend much money. This tactic was apparently wise because Pearl was extremely happy with the fruit snacks and goldfish crackers in her stocking, and Axel just wanted to eat the cardboard packaging on his new binkies.
It was lots of fun. After opening presents we casually ate breakfast, cleaned up around the house a bit (because we hosted dinner), and watched A Christmas Story which was always a tradition for me growing up.
I already can't wait for next year!
