Christmas Preparation

Tonight I tackle the giant bags full of gifts so I can remember what I bought and who I should still get something for. I feel I have been slowly easing into being an adult in some respects. I'm still not good at holiday traditions. I don't cook, don't generally wrap presents, I don't send out Christmas cards, or put up decorations. Really that list could keep on going. I plan to get better as the years go on and once I have kids I hope to be totally prepared for the Christmas season.

My few small steps in the right direction were to send Christmas cards to my grandparents, buy a bunch of gift bags at the dollar store (that is similar to wrapping them right?), and Jeremy and I plan to make a fruit salad for the Christmas Eve festivities with my side of the family. Also...

I am almost done with gifts! I bought most of them from two of the most wonderful websites in the whole entire world Amazon and Etsy. I would show you some of my great Etsy finds, but I can't because people might see their gifts early. That is not okay! I hope to eventually be selling headbands and maybe some other accessories on Etsy as well. I will write a post about it once I begin that new adventure. I plan to do that after we move and finally have all of our things with us again as opposed to being stacked from floor to ceiling in a storage unit a few miles away.

I was hoping to be in a house by Christmas, but it looks more like it will be mid-January. So, I will ease my way into the world of Christmas decorations next year. Maybe we will even get a tree! It would look pretty pathetic with the three ornaments I own, but we can cross that bridge when we get there.

Last year my big attempt at making a step toward my holiday goals was to make personalized tags for all of our gifts. Check out the photo. I didn't spend a lot of time on it. I thought that was what made it funny, just slapping Jeremy's face on Will Ferrell's body from Elf. Enjoy!

Now on to the gifts...

Oh, and I just learned today that my sister has had a blog for like a year. Thanks for telling me Kara!

  1. sorry, I wanted to see if I even remembered how to write before I told anyone, then soon realized I wasn't very good at it, haha, but who cares!
We got our first tree this year, it's full of Tylers ornaments and a few of Maleahs, I will have to steal some form home this Christmas for next year. I am excited for the fruit salad :O)

  2. Yeah, I have realized that I want to type as I say things as opposed to how I know they are supposed to be written formally. I think I have forgotten a lot of that anyway. It has been quite a while since I took any sort of writing class!
