The work part was a lot of fun and I did manage to see a couple of friends while I was there. I didn't sleep much and I am paying for it now.
Some things I got to do while there were as follows:
-Saw the Broadway show FELA!
-Went to the Tim Burton exhibit at MOMA
-Had dinner and hung out with my friends Frank and Medina :)
-Visited the Brooklyn Flea and got to see my friend Whitney
FELA! was really entertaining and powerful. I highly recommend it. The Tim Burton exhibit was fun as well. I saw artwork he did from as young as age 14. I wish I could have taken pictures there. It was extremely packed though so it was hard to get around and I didn't have time to go to any of the other exhibits.
The Brooklyn Flea market was good, but quite similar to the Portland Saturday Market and not nearly as big. But, it was inside a beautiful old bank building. I thought it was a great location, just an interesting contrast to have kind of a bohemian flea market inside of such a formal building.
The first night we were there we went out to dinner and one of my co-workers realized she was sitting next to David Byrne. She told the rest of us and while everyone was freaking out I had to ask who he was. I guess I wasn't quite old enough. His name sounded familiar, and I was able to put the pieces together once I was told he was from the Talking Heads. Everyone else was very excited about that encounter. Our waitress was clueless as to who he was as well.
We had some really interesting appointments for work. One of them was at the Design Library which is outside of the city so we took the train there. I won't go into detail, but basically the place was designer heaven! The train ride was beautiful as well since it was through the country, along the Hudson, and it was snowing that day. Below is a picture of the scenery from the train and some really old beautiful books at the library.
Sorry the pictures are kind of crappy. I didn't do that for any kind of artistic effect. First I couldn't figure out how to turn my flash off and I had a co-worker help me with that. Then I needed the flash for some of the photos, but didn't want to mess with it.
So, that's the trip. Jeremy said we may get to close on the house sometime next week so there will be posts to come on that I'm sure! Have a great week!
