I had my hair done a couple of weekends ago by my lovely hair dresser sister, Kacy. It's always difficult to figure out what I want and how to communicate it well. I have not found a single decent website to help with hair decisions. I think somebody should make one. I e-mailed Kacy two photos. One was of Christina Hendricks to explain that I wanted my hair to be a more vibrant red than usual. I also sent her one of Zooey Deschanel asking if I could get similar bangs as well as get my hair to look wavy like hers.
I asked if Kacy could pick up a product that I could use to make my hair wavy like Zooey's. She told me that did not exist for someone whose hair was as stick straight as mine. After dyeing and cutting my hair she (while laughing and rolling her eyes) tried to teach me how to curl it. In my 26 years I have never been able to accomplish it. I don't know why it is so hard for me. My hair would either just fall right off of the curling iron or I would end up making these weird dents in it. I blamed it on being left handed.
She made it seem so easy. I went to try it the next day, but realized I didn't even have a curling iron. I thought I did, but I searched for quite a while and apparently it didn't exist. I went to Target and bought one last weekend and finally tried it out. It was still really difficult, but I was able to do a decent job in the front. Who knows what the back looked like, but the front turned out and that is all I could see so it worked for me.
What didn't work was the time it took. I was working on it for almost 45 minutes. It takes me a full 2 minutes to straighten my hair and I do not have the discipline to work this hard on it. Maybe I will try again for some sort of special occasion, but I feel pretty good that I've finally been able to figure it out.

Kira it's so cute! I love the new cut and color on you...maybe you could try having her put more long layers in your hair which always seems to get more wave for me. Maybe once you have babies (ahem) your hair will get more wavy...mine did and I love it!
ReplyDeleteReally cute!!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute!!
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting my hair to do something similar for awhile now and have had the same problem....
:)
Kira... I totally know the left handed curling iron kinks! I do it every time. ha ha! But Ugh, I suck at curing my hair. I have better things to do with my day.
ReplyDeleteMy hair is stick straight and fine. I compromise on a lot of layers and 5 min with a straightening iron.
It feels nice to have validation that I'm not the only lefty having issues with this! I had to keep the straightening iron on next to me so when I would get those indents I could straighten it back out and try again. So annoying!
