I know you are not all Trail Blazers fans so let me just fill you in here...Clyde Drexler is kind of a big deal. He lead the Blazers to the championship game in 1990 and 1992 (although we did not win). He is historically one of the best players in the NBA. Sure, he won a championship with the Houston Rockets and works for them now, but he always will be a Blazer around here. One of the best.
When I was in middle school my mom, sisters, and I had a Clyde Drexler sighting at the Lloyd Center Mall. We started following him around. He was the most exciting celebrity we had ever seen in real life at the time, but he was shopping with his kids so we eventually gave it a rest and quit stalking him.
My friend Gina is awesome, but she is not a huge Blazers fan. She was going through some old family things and came across a Bill Walton doll and a 1986-87 media guide. She gave them to me. I was excited, and when she started to walk off she mentioned there was a signature or two in the media guide. And guess who signed the book? Clyde himself!

Oh my gosh this is so cool! I loved Clyde the Glide when I was growing up! I still have a few posters of him I think.
ReplyDeleteso cool! we totally had all the DQ blazers cups when i was a kid and clyde the glide was always my favorite cup to drink out of :).
ReplyDeleteside note: clyde used to bring his car to craig's shop and he's driven craig's brother's car before (it was a loaner at the time). little claim to fame :). haha!
had fun hanging out the other night. i think craig & jeremy could definitely be sports buddies. haha!
Too fun!! i love finding things like this!
ReplyDeleteI am so jealous! this is soooo cool!
ReplyDeletefun! We are going to go to a game on the 27th i think.

Ok, this totally makes me happy! I grew up going to the games, (My grandparents were sponsors), and eating dinner with the teams before the games. I always had the biggest crush on Clyde and Terry when I was little.
ReplyDeleteSadly, we don't sponsor them anymore, so we're stuck admiring from afar:-) Ummm, how amazing are they doing though! LA is outrageous this season! I think we're going to another game soon. xoxo
