Strange Projects

This weekend, on the way to my friend's baby shower, I stopped at my parents house for about an hour.  My dad has been wanting me to clean out my old bedroom at their house.  I have been avoiding it as much as possible.  I humored him and worked on it a bit in the short time I had.  It was just enough time to grab old artwork, stuffed animals, and clean off a desk for him to take to Goodwill.
I came across a portfolio of projects I did for a drawing class my sophomore year of college.  Most of them are drawings of the model guy from our class, but one was pretty interesting so I thought I would share.  We had a project where we were supposed to draw one half of two different faces as one portrait.  I thought it would be fun to do the same person as a child and as an adult so you could see the difference.  Then somehow I decided it was a good idea to pick the one person I could think of whose look changed the most throughout the years.

I'm not sure what to do with this.  It's too weird to put on my wall, but I did spend a decent amount of time on it so I don't want to just get rid of it either.  I guess it will just hang out in storage.

Fun Things From Today

I have a few things from today to share...

1. One of my co-workers posted a bunch of free stuff on the personal ads today so I came home with a new tea set.  We don't really drink tea at our house so my one tea cup was quite sufficient, but I want to use them for some sort of crafty project.  Let me know if you have ideas!

2. I saw this video on CUP OF JO.  It cracked me up because it totally reminds me of Jeremy and I while we were in college, although neither of us would have ever said "last weekend was chill."  I actually have some of our instant messages saved from back when we were friends. It's pretty funny to look at them now.

3. I am super excited that LaMarcus Aldridge was voted Western Conference Player of the Week.  I really hope he makes it to the All Star Game.

 4. I got this cute print in the mail today.  It will be framed and put up in our bedroom.

5. We watched a show about obsessive coupon clippers and it kind of made us want to try them.  Those people saved so much money! I cut a bunch of coupons.  I will let you know if I actually use them.

My Studio

I've decided to start calling my craft room my "studio."  I want it to be a place where I can do design work from home as well as craft and sewing projects.  It was just way too chaotic for me to design in there before.  I'm guessing some of you probably think it still looks too busy, but it's organized chaos now so it's much better for me.

 I wasn't planning on putting things on the walls until we painted it, got rid of the popcorn ceiling, and switched out the flooring.  I also hope to eventually have cabinet doors over the storage space on the wall.  All of those updates probably won't happen for a couple of years as it is pretty low on the remodel priority list so I finally decided to put some things on the walls.

I received a lot of fun artwork for Christmas.  All of it came from etsy sellers.  From top left: 1. Doily Clock by and furthermore 2. Bits and Pieces Print by Alice B. Gardens Photography 3. The opposite wall was blank as well, but I ran out of artwork to hang.  The other day I tacked up a piece of scrap fabric to photograph for my paper crown project.  I actually really liked how it looked so I decided to keep it there and add other scrap fabrics to the mix.

This table is still a little cluttered for me to draw at, but I will fix that.  It is where I plan to do design work when I need to get out of the office.  It's not great looking, but it's a folding table so if I need extra floor space or if I have a hard time getting to some of my books I can easily take it down.

I just took a photo of this because I think it's so cute.  When we bought our house there was a random mini shopping cart in the backyard.  I decided to use it to store my felt.

I love productive weekends.
