Garden Radish Free Printable

Sometimes I eventually give up on things because I don't have the time to work on them.  This is one of those projects.  Once upon a time, I had grand plans of creating a series of fun garden related prints to sell in my Etsy shop.  I have all kinds of cute sayings and illustration ideas, but just no time to execute them.  I'm quite positive this idea will never make it high enough on my priority list to actually happen, but I did make the first print.  Two years ago.  And I did nothing with it.  I still like it a lot and finally got around to putting one up on my own wall last week.  I figured I may as well share my rad-ish printable with you all for free instead of doing nothing with it, ever.  Enjoy!
Let me know if you use it.  I would love to see a photo of it in your space!
And, just because I love radishes...here is past post on some of my favorite radish recipes.

Radish Recipe Favorites

We planted a half bed of radishes in our garden last year and enjoyed them so much.  This year we decided to plant a whole bed of a couple different varieties.  Since I am not the most genius of gardeners, I planted them all at the same time.  We had a massive amount of radishes to go through and only had a few weeks to enjoy them.  Since I have recently done a ton of googling and have prepared so many radish containing meals, I thought I would share my top five favorite radish recipes.
This recipe was really light and refreshing.  We didn't use micro greens like it called for.  I just used some various greens from our garden and it was amazing.
2. Roasted Radishes
A friend told me roasted radishes are really great with rosemary, but I just cut mine in half and roasted them in olive oil and sea salt.  Roasting radishes takes the spicy bite out of them so it makes your kids more likely to eat them which is a bonus.
We preferred it without the snap peas, but it's a great summer salad.  A perfect recipe if you are looking for something to take to a potluck.
4. Radish Greens Pesto
The greens are apparently the most nutritious part of the radish.  I do not like the greens in salad, so I searched for other ways to use them.  We add the greens to smoothies on occasion and I started adding them to homemade pesto.  I use this recipe, but I sub out half of the spinach for radish greens.  I also use walnuts instead of pine nuts because I'm cheap.
This is one of the most delicious meals I have ever prepared.  I loved how many radish greens I was able to use in it, and it was incredibly simple.  Of course I doubled the bacon.

Do you have any favorite radish recipes?  I would love if you leave yours in the comments.  We are hoping to get a second crop this year so I need more ideas.

Garden Growing

We planted our first garden this year.  I was intimidated by the idea of gardening because I don't have a great track record with house plants and taking on new projects for which I have no experience generally stresses me out.  I don't like failing and knew there was a high probability that a garden under my care would not thrive.
Thankfully, the majority of the plants have grown.  I know most of it has nothing to do with me.  My husband built the garden beds and ordered the soil.  The weather has been pretty ideal as well.  Even so, I feel good about how things are going.  I have taken a small part in helping our garden to grow.
Things have been really busy for us recently.  The garden has become a great place to release some stress.  It sounds silly, but I like hanging out with my plants.  Spending time out there has helped me to understand their needs.  I haven't done a ton of research on varieties of plants.  If you asked me about specific plants in my garden though, I could tell you a lot about them.
The garden has been a wonderful lesson in patience for Pearl.  Every day we check our strawberries.  One day she took a nibble of one on the vine because I told her it wasn't time to pick it.  She seems to understand now that we don't pick (or eat) them until they are ready.  The garden has also helped her with restraint.  She has learned to be careful when checking out the plants.  At one point, she accidentally pulled two cucumber plants out of the ground.  She felt terrible and has been so careful ever since.  Amazingly, it has also gotten her interested in trying new foods.  Pearl wouldn't even touch a salad before.  Now she wants to try everything we pick.  It turns out she really likes chives and regularly asks me to cut her one to nibble on while I water the plants.
The whole family is reaping the benefits at the dinner table.  I have much more motivation to come up with new healthy meals when they are based around the food from our backyard.  Jeremy and I never considered buying a radish before.  In the last month, we have eaten around 100 of them.  We always have fresh spinach on hand so I make green smoothies to share with the kids.  The garden has really changed the way we eat.
If you are on the fence about starting a garden like I was, I absolutely recommend going for it.  There have been so many benefits to it that I never even considered before we started.
