Rotting Apples

My yard is full of rotting apples.  Having an apple tree is not as great as I thought it would be. Actually, it's really annoying.  Filling the yard debris can with apples doesn't seem to make a dent.  More just fall the next day.  Plus my dogs carry them into the house and that part of the lawn can't be mowed.  Have you had experience with this before?  What should we do with the apples next season?  I think there are too many bugs to eat them.

Our Yard

Over the weekend our project was our backyard.  We didn't have a lawn mower when we moved and had not purchased one prior to this weekend so our yard was looking pretty terrible.  It was more of a field than a yard really.
We didn't want to ruin a new lawn mower by taking it out on the field on its first run so Jeremy rented a field mower to do the job the first time around.
While he was mowing I was pulling massive amounts of weeds.  This is just one of my piles.  The area that I was pulling weeds in currently has a bunch of huge rocks in it. You can see some of them in the background of the photo.  We are going to build a fire pit in the middle of that area. Hopefully we will figure out a way to make some of the large rocks work in the space because I have no idea how we would move them.
We also plan to fix up the little shed in the backyard and fill it with gardening tools because we plan to build a garden next to it eventually.  I'm excited about that.  I want sunflowers!
And, in completely unrelated news: if you were planning on buying a gift for my birthday in July, I want this...

Daria officially just made my amazon wish list.
