I have another fun homemade Christmas gift to show you guys!
I'm glad I gave all of these gifts out early so I can post them before Christmas. The original idea for this project came from
this blog post. It was just too cute and easy of an idea so I decided it would be a great gift for our friends.
For my version of the hot chocolate project I actually started by making tags for the hot chocolate jar and the marshmallow bag (even before I had the hot chocolate, marshmallows, or even jars or bags). I was just really excited to get started! I made the tags in Illustrator by cropping photos of a few floral prints that I love and then just adding the text below it. I printed them out on a cream colored card stock.
Other supplies include:
-mason jars (Coastal Farm Supply)
-scrap fabric (remnants from work the company no longer needed)
-pinking shears
-bakers twine (Crate & Barrel)
-cellophane bags (Target)
-hole punch (Target)
-brown paper bags (Dollar Tree)
-paper doilies (Michaels)
-marker or pen
-bird stamp & ink (Michaels)
Then obviously hot chocolate and marshmallows. The hot chocolate came from Cash & Carry and the marshmallows were homemade by one of my co-workers. I purchased them from her at our work craft fair.
The whole project was really just an exercise in fun packaging. There are so many possibilities!
Also, the marshmallows are insanely delicious. I think I need her recipe.
I am having so much fun with these Christmas projects.

Oh wow those marshmallows look awesome, I want some. Very cute and crafty Kira, did you sell your headbands at the craft fair at work? I really like all your tags, you would be good at scrapbooking, I have a lot of pictures for you to start on hahaha.

ReplyDeleteKara, I didn't sell headbands this year. I was doing so many Christmas things and with that plus work I didn't have time. Literally all of the headbands I have in stock are on etsy right now.

you had me at marshmallows!! haha... I can't believe I didn't buy any, I totally meant to, it just slipped my mind! Like Erin, I plan to combine the mug project and the hot chocolate and give that out as gifts for my work team next week.. so I guess that's what I'll be doing this weekend! Which reminds me, I need one more mug...
