Ringing in the New Year in Denver

We are going to Denver, CO for the new year to attend a wedding and visit with our friends the Fadels.  I will get to see their baby girl for the first time! I'm so excited about that.
I have never been to Denver before.  If you live there or have visited please share ideas on places to go and things to do.  Restaurant suggestions would be great too as I doubt we will cook from the hotel.  We will have a rental car so if there is anything outside of Denver that is a must see feel free to share as well.
It's going to be colder there than I am used to here in Portland.  Maybe I need a new chunky sweater to keep me warm?  I'm loving these jacquard sweaters from ModCloth.
