When we attended the Blazers-Nuggets game in Denver, we did what most out-of-town Blazers fans would do. We went and waved to the camera at the post game show. My sister somehow managed to record our split second of fame on her cell phone. Too many people watched that terrible game to the end just to see us so we kind of had to do it. Anyway, enjoy our dorkiness.

Denver Trip Post #4 Friends and the Wedding
Jeremy has known the family we went to visit in Denver since he was a kid. The only daughter in the family of five kids was getting married. It was the perfect opportunity for Jeremy to visit the whole family in one place and catch up with them. One of the siblings, Craig, is Jeremy's best friend and was his best man at our wedding. I have had the opportunity to get to know him and his lovely wife Mary, but I had not met the rest of the family previously. It was also really exciting to see their baby girl for the first time!
Craig and Mary
Craig's family actually lived in the house that we own now when they were kids. Jeremy used to come over and play games all the time. Growing up with this family was part of the draw for Jeremy when we saw the house was up for sale. He had so many fond memories of his time spent here.
We took a bunch of photos of the house with us so we could show them what we have done with the place. It was fun to look through their old photos as well to see what our house looked like over a decade ago.
Everyone in the family was so kind. I loved getting to know all of them and their significant others. We played a lot of games and ate more ice cream cake than anyone ever should.
Desiree and Zack after they were just pronounced husband and wife!
The wedding day was beautiful. It snowed all day long, but was really cold. The low during the day was about 2°F. I had packed an outfit to wear, but after doing wedding set-up I knew it would be too cold inside the building for it. We took a trip to Target and I picked up a sweater last minute and made that work with a skirt I brought.
Sweater : Target
Skirt: Anthropologie
Tights: Kohl's
Boots: Steve Madden
Necklace: from my grandmother
This is us at the reception. Jeremy picked up his shirt and tie at Target, too.
We really appreciate the family including us in so much of the planning and activities related to the wedding that week. We enjoyed our time spent with them. Also, I wanted to share with you a game that Dwight (one of the siblings) and his girlfriend taught us. It's called "Telephone Pictionary." Basically everyone just sits in a circle with a stack of paper. Each person writes a saying on one of the pieces of paper and then hands the stack to the next person. Then that person reads it and tries to draw the saying. They then hand it to the next person who looks at the drawing and writes a phrase based off of what they see. It goes all the way around the circle until your original stack is back in your hand. Then you go through and share the results. It's pretty hilarious.
We played the game again after we got back. Jeremy loved this one so much it is now on our refrigerator. He tried to stump me by putting the phrase "It's the best" because he thought it would be really hard to draw. I'm just too good though.

Denver Trip Post #3 The Rockies
Jeremy and I drove to Boulder the day before our friend's wedding. This was also the day before it got really cold and started snowing so it was the perfect day for this trip! We visited the shops on Pearl St., watched a street performer, and ate gelato.
Then we drove up into the mountains and checked out the landscape. It was so pretty!

The view of the Rockies from our hotel after it snowed.

Denver Trip Post #2 Christmas Meals
Jeremy and I flew into Denver on the morning of Christmas Day. We were hungry when we arrived, but hardly anything was open. I felt like we were driving around forever looking for an open restaurant and I was getting pretty cranky. We eventually found a Denny's that was packed full of people. I ate some sort of breakfast burrito for Christmas lunch.
Then we took a nap. For four hours. Oops. It was an early flight, ok. After that we watched college football in our hotel room for a bit and then it was time for dinner.
For dinner we really wanted to do Chinese food like they have in "A Christmas Story." Apparently authentic Chinese restaurants are not as reliable as we thought and we couldn't find an open one. Panda Express was open though so we ended up having a fast food Chinese dinner.

We shared.
After dinner we felt like a dessert was in order because it was Christmas after all. We ended up sitting in our car at Sonic across the street from Panda Express. Jeremy had a chocolate milkshake and I had a chocolate and banana sundae. Denver has really fantastic restaurants so it was a bit of a shame that our first few meals were all fast food, but we made the best of the situation and had fun together that day.
This is officially our 2010 Christmas picture. It's the only one we took of ourselves that day while sitting in an empty Panda Express.

Denver Trip Post #1 Blazers vs Nuggets
Our trip to Denver was mostly to attend a wedding and visit some friends, but since we are completely hardcore Trail Blazers fans we attended their game at the Pepsi Center vs. the Denver Nuggets on December 28th. Both of us packed plenty of Blazers gear for the trip. We had our Brandon Roy "Rip City" jerseys, but since he wasn't playing we decided to wear our retro t-shirts instead.
The first half of the game was good, but our team completely fell apart in the second half. It was weird and annoying, but nobody hassled us about being fans of the visiting and losing team which was nice.
The stands were nearly full, but their fans were so quiet. The loudest cheer I heard was when one of the announcers at the beginning mentioned something about Tim Tebow who plays for the Denver Broncos. I kind of felt bad for the Nuggets, but I think maybe it's just different in Portland since we don't have an NFL team. It seemed to me that it is much more fun to be a Trail Blazers fan.
Even though the game was bad we got a kick out of the guy next to us who was clearly a know-it-all and kept yelling suggestions to their team on how things should be done. At half time there was a juggler and the know-it-all was telling his friend about how he had been juggling for 15 years and was much better than the guy out on the floor. The guy declared that if people were entertained by this type of juggling then "the circus is dead." I found that quite hilarious and we have found many opportunities since to use our new favorite phrase.
After the game, like giant nerds, we went down to the floor behind Mike Barrett and Mike Rice and waved to the camera during the post game show airing in Portland. Then we met Mike Rice after their broadcast. He was really nice and commented that he hoped the wedding we were attending went much better than the game did.
Overall, even though we did not get a win it was still a fun experience.

P.S. Denver fans - why do you love the Birdman so much? He is so GROSS!

Ringing in the New Year in Denver
We are going to Denver, CO for the new year to attend a wedding and visit with our friends the Fadels. I will get to see their baby girl for the first time! I'm so excited about that.
I have never been to Denver before. If you live there or have visited please share ideas on places to go and things to do. Restaurant suggestions would be great too as I doubt we will cook from the hotel. We will have a rental car so if there is anything outside of Denver that is a must see feel free to share as well.
It's going to be colder there than I am used to here in Portland. Maybe I need a new chunky sweater to keep me warm? I'm loving these jacquard sweaters from ModCloth.
And...the 10% discount code for my etsy shop is good through tomorrow until midnight. Just enter the code BLOGFRIENDS at checkout.
Have a great week!
