A Christmas Post in January

This Christmas season was really fun for our family.  Pearl was old enough to understand a lot more and both kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves.  Santa isn't a thing around here, but we also haven't made it a point to not do Santa which I think confused Pearl a little.  Santa is basically everywhere and she picks up on things pretty quickly.  We will need to have the talk with her next year.
We got to spend lots of time with extended family on both sides and Pearl was especially excited to see her Washington cousins.  She even had a sleepover with her cousin Maleah one night.
Presents are not a huge thing around here, but the kids did receive books, a toy Dyson replica vacuum (which Axel is obsessed with), and a couple Frozen dolls.  They were spoiled by extended family as usual and I don't think we will need to buy them any pajamas for a couple years.
My proudest moment of the season was when Pearl chose to give away a bunch of toys to our friends who just started their journey with foster care.  She was so excited that the kids would get to enjoy them.  After choosing to give away all of the toys I had set out as options, she went into the playroom to find more.
As usual, I made a silly gift tag for family presents.  I didn't have much time this year so Jeremy suggested I just do a Die Hard poster replacing Bruce Willis with Axel's face instead of Photoshopping the whole family.  Axel loved the tags and kept tearing them off of gifts.  By Christmas, I had to tape each one back on at least once.
We rang in the new year with a group of friends who also have kids.  We were in bed by ten.  It was perfect.  I'm excited and a little nervous to experience all that 2015 will bring which of course includes baby number three in March.

2013 Bad Photoshop Gift Tags

This year I Photoshopped our faces over the Griswold family from National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.  That was Jeremy's favorite Christmas movie growing up.  I ended up ordering way too few Christmas cards this year so I printed these out to attach to gifts and also mailed out a few.
Axel as Rusty is definitely my favorite part of the photo.

Merry Christmas!

Christmas tags
This is coming a day late, but I generally post our ridiculous, bad Photoshop Christmas gift tag every year so I wanted to get it up on the blog.  We decided on a Home Alone theme.
You can see our gift tags from past years here.

As many of you already know, my grandma Pearl went to be with the Lord yesterday.  I'm still processing a bit, but her passing was a blessing although still very sad for our family.  I plan to post more about her and what she meant to me later in the week.  Thank you for your prayers.

Christmas DIY Projects

I'm starting to think about Christmas DIY gifts already this year.  Even though I am home on maternity leave, I seem to have less time than I did while working.  So I'm hoping to get a head start.  I did a few projects last year that turned out really well so I thought it would be fun to revisit those for others who are also looking for homemade gifts to do.
I also have fun every year creating personalized gift tags with my husband's face.
Maybe this year I will try to use the whole family.

If you have gift project ideas that are not too time consuming, please share in the comments section.
I need all the help I can get this year!

Christmas gift wrap

I like pretty, simple things.  I also like funny things.  Those two combined make our gift wrap for the season.  Two years ago I made our gift tags by taking an image of Will Ferrell in "Elf" and replacing his face with Jeremy's.  See Jeremy as Buddy the Elf here.  This year I decided to go with a similar concept, but I picked an image of Ralphie in "A Christmas Story".  I personally think it's hilarious.  If you don't get our humor then that's just too dang bad!
Jeremy drew an elephant on his white elephant gift.  I thought it was a pretty cute elephant.
Oh, and before I forget...Merry Christmas!  We did pretty much all of our family celebrations yesterday.
